The fifth Manchester Sermon – The Church of The Funnies – was written by Audrey Niffenegger and delivered on 16 October 2014. Audrey was joined by journalist Katie Popperwell for a discussion about art as a religious choice and the role of creators in our society. The Manchester Sermon was co-commissioned by Manchester Literature Festival and Manchester Cathedral, and supported by Gaeia.
Previous Manchester Sermons have been delivered by Lionel Shriver, Ali Smith, Sir Andrew Motion and Jeanette Winterson.
